FUTEBOL PROFISSIONAL: “CAMPO CHEIO” NÃO AJUDA A GANHAR JOGO

Resumo

Este estudo tratou de (a) verificar se o fenômeno de Home Advantage (HA) - tendência de as equipes, quando jogam em casa, vencerem mais de 50% dos jogos - existiu na série A do Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol do ano de 2005 (CB2005); e (b) se o público médio presente nos estádios teve poder explicativo sobre a média de pontos ganhos, nos jogos em casa, dos clubes participantes. Os dados foram obtidos de dois websites oficiais de estatística e foram analisados por meio de estatística descritiva e regressão linear. Os resultados indicaram que (a) quando jogaram em casa os clubes participantes do CB2005 obtiveram melhor aproveitamento do que quando atuaram fora de casa e (b) a média de torcedores nos estádios não influenciou o rendimento das equipes nos jogos disputados em casa.



Professional soccer: full stadiums do not help teams to win games

The purposes of this study were to verify (a) if the Home Advantage (HA) - tendency of the teams, when playing at home win more than 50% of the games - occurred in the 2005 Soccer Brazilian National Soccer Championship (CB2005); and (b) if the amount of public in the stadiums explained the average of won points, in the games at home, of the clubs that took part in the CB2005. The data were gathered from two statistical offi cial websites and were analyzed trough descriptive statistics and linear regression. The results showed that (a) when playing at home the soccer clubs obtained better results than when playing as guests, and (b) the supporters’ average presence in the stadiums had no statistical infl uence in the performance of the teams when they played at home.
